Downtown trails and Abrams Park
Ridgefield’s city trail guide includes loops through Abrams Park near downtown. Routes pass wooded areas, footbridges and recreation spaces, with surfaces that can include pavement, gravel and dirt. Check the route description before visiting if surface type or walking distance matters to you.

Understand the refuge connections
The city identifies the Oaks to Wetlands Trail at the refuge’s Carty Unit and a seasonal Carty Lake connection from the Port of Ridgefield. Refuge access differs from a city park: some routes are seasonal, fees may apply, and pet rules differ. Consult the current visitor guidance before planning a walk rather than assuming every trail is available year-round.

Compare a route, not just a map pin
Make a trial trip between a prospective home, downtown and the destinations in your weekly routine. Repeat the most important drive at your normal travel time. Locate the actual entrance to a park or trail; a nearby green area on a map does not necessarily mean there is public access from the closest street.
Questions for a newer home or subdivision
Ask what is included in the property and what remains to be finished. Request the applicable association documents, maintenance responsibilities and information about nearby planned work. Avoid assuming an open parcel next door will stay open. Bring Brad the listing, your visit notes and the questions that need an answer from the relevant planning office.
